Pre-employment Medical Examination
Prior to issuing an employment contract, many companies require a successful candidate to attend for a medical examination. The purpose of this check is to ascertain the fitness and physical capability of the employee to fullfil the duties of their proposed role. This medical can be tailored to suit the position applied for but generally includes some or all of the following depending on the industry and the employees role.
Full Clinical Examination
Audiometric Assessment
Vision Screening
Spirometry
Urinalysis
Urinary Drug Screening
Bio-Chemical Analysis
Endocrine Analysis
Full Blood Count
ECG
The candidate attends the Clinic, completes a detailed medical health questionnaire, has a range of screening tests carried out by an occupational health nurse and a full clinical examination by an occupational physician. A report is then sent to the HR Department outlining "Fit" or "Unfit", "Fit with Restriction" or Temporarily Unfit". The medical records are held on-site at the Clinic.
Annual/Periodic Medical Examinations
These can be offered for some or all of your staff, and can again be tailored to your specific requirements. Often companies choose only to provide annual medical examinations for employees in high risk jobs, such as machine /vehicle operators or for positions working with dangerous chemicals. The tests can include all the elements available for the pre-employment medicals (above), and can also incorporate long term biological monitoring where appropriate. Also, these examinations are conducted following discussion with the Health & Safety Manager/Engineer in the company with regard to exposure levels and other risk factors.
Night Worker Medical Assessments
As per the legislative requirements employers should arrange for Night workers to have periodic health assesments. Further details are available by contacting the clinic.
